Tonia qualified from the University of Parma (Italy) in 2001 and for 2 years after graduation she worked as an Intern at the Small Animal Hospital of the same university.
In 2004 she obtained a Master’s Degree in clinical aspects of cardiovascular disease from the University of Parma where she stayed for another 4 years as a research fellow, studying cardiac arrhythmias in dogs with degenerative mitral valve disease. Her specialisation continued and in 2012 she obtained a PhD with the thesis “Inflammatory mediators in dogs with chronic degenerative mitral valve disease”. In 2017 Tonia obtained the cardiology diploma of the European College of Veterinary internal Medicine. From 2014 to 2020 she worked as a cardiologist at the referral clinic Davies Veterinary Specialists in the United Kingdom and for Holter Monitoring Service performing Holter analyses. In 2018 she was recognised by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons as a Specialist in Cardiology.
She is one of the editors and authors of the book Guide to Canine and Feline Electrocardiography. Willey 2018 and she has published scientific papers on cardiology.
She is a member of the European Society of Cardiology.
